Bishop Evans Achanga is currently the Senior Pastor of Joy Celebration Center a branch
of Agape Fellowship Centre, assisted by Reverend Mr/Mrs Jairus and
Rosemary Owunza as the Assistant Pastor.
Bishop Evans Achanga is married to Mellen Achanga and they are blessed with two
sons; Peter Heri and Demetrius Fadhili.
In 1985, Bishop Evans accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour of his life while in high
school and this created in him a hunger and thirst of knowing God more and telling
others about Him. While in college in 1988 pursuing his accounts course, the zeal of
God couldn’t keep him silent for he continually witnessed to everyone he had
opportunity to.
After college he went and submitted under a man of God where he served for thirteen
years. It was at this time that he started sensing the call of God upon his life. Before
launching a new church, while praying and fasting it was impressed on his heart that he
needed a man of God as a spiritual father/guide and God led him to Bishop Dr Steve
Kabachia the founder of Agape Fellowship Centre who became a great mentor and
father in his life. Dr Kabachia took him as a son and together with Agape leadership
made him an overseer of Agape churches in the entire western part of Kenya as far as
beyond the borders of Uganda and Tanzania. By God’s grace he has been able to plant
new churches in this area.
By God’s grace, on 19th August 2012 he was consecrated in the office of Bishop to
work as a First vice chairman to the Presiding Bishop (Dr Steve Kabachia).Apart from
ministry work, he also pursued accounts course until the end of 1989 when he secured
an employment with a secondary school as an accounts clerk for six years before
joining a Non-Governmental Organization as an accountant while at the same time
pursuing a diploma in Business Administration. He served in NGO world for more than
ten years till late 2007 when he resigned in the position of Finance and Administration
officer in order to concentrate on ministry work. With rich experience in NGO world, he
was requested by three organizations to serve on their boards which he consented. He
is therefore a board member of three National Non-Governmental Organizations.
However, because his passion and priority was/is in ministry, in 2005 he started his
journey of Bible College which he is still on. He is currently taking his masters degree in
Christian Ministry. He is also a board member to three Bible Colleges and a lecturer.
His strongest areas of ministry are:
1. Youth ministry which he has been doing since 1989 on three levels: village level, high
school level and college level with a focus on academic excellence and living a life of
purity. He does counseling to teens and youth especially when outreaching schools and
colleges.
2. Family relationships. He is involved in both pre-marital and marital counseling by
hosting seminars, involvement in engagements and radio ministry.
3. Evangelism/church planting and grounding believers in faith through teachings. He
ministers in crusades, conferences, seminars and revival meetings.
4. Leadership development. He helps in improving leadership skills, abilities and confidence in leaders.
